Concrete · Houston

Concrete that lasts in Houston soil.

Driveways, patios, sidewalks, slab foundations. Houston's clay soil eats poorly poured concrete in 5–8 years. We over-spec the rebar, over-cure the mix, and finish properly so your driveway is still flat in 30.

Overview

Most Houston concrete fails because of how it was poured. Not because of the concrete.

The mix is fine. The cure is where it goes wrong. Concrete in Houston needs longer cure time than the spec sheet says — our humidity is high but our heat speeds the surface set, which causes shrinkage cracks if you're not patient. We cure 7 days minimum on driveways, 10 on slabs. That's why ours don't crack.

What We Do

Services we offer.

01

Driveways

New construction or replacement. Standard residential is 4" thick with #4 rebar at 18" centers. Stamped, exposed aggregate, or smooth-finish options.

02

Patios & Walkways

Backyard patios, pool decks, side walkways. Sloped properly for drainage (more important than people realize in Houston rain).

03

Slab Foundations

New slab pours for additions, garages, ADUs. Engineer-designed if structural; standard mix for non-load-bearing.

04

Repair & Resurfacing

Crack repair, surface resurfacing, pier replacement. We diagnose whether to repair or replace — many contractors only sell replacement.

05

Sidewalks & Approaches

City-spec sidewalks, ADA-compliant approaches, code-correct slope and finish.

06

Stamped & Decorative

Stamped concrete that mimics stone, brick, or wood. Color-integral or post-cure stained. Sealed against UV fade.

Questions

Asked & answered.

How much does a new driveway cost?
Standard concrete driveway in Houston: $6–$10/sqft installed. Stamped or decorative: $11–$18/sqft. A typical 600sqft driveway runs $4,000–$8,000 standard or $7,000–$12,000 decorative.
How long until I can drive on new concrete?
Foot traffic: 24 hours. Light vehicles: 7 days. Full-weight trucks: 28 days. We tape off the area and provide signage. Driving on concrete before 7 days is the #1 cause of premature cracking.
Will my concrete crack?
Some hairline cracking is normal — concrete shrinks as it cures. We use proper expansion joints and tooled control joints to direct where cracks form. Major cracks (wider than a quarter inch) are not normal and indicate substrate or installation issues.
Can you match existing concrete?
Color matching old concrete exactly is impossible — UV exposure has changed the original color. We can come close with color additives, but for a uniform look, full replacement is sometimes the better answer. We'll be honest about when matching works and when it doesn't.
What's the difference between regular and stamped concrete?
Regular: smooth or broom-finished, plain gray. Stamped: pressed with patterns to mimic stone, brick, or wood while the concrete is still wet. Stamped costs 60–80% more but transforms a basic patio into a feature.
