Overview

Siding takes more abuse than your roof. Most contractors don't know it.

Hail dings the south side. UV bleaches the west. Humidity grows mildew on the north. Hurricane wind tears at every edge. The siding you put on a Houston home has to handle all four — and the installation has to be tighter than the spec, because spec doesn't account for what we get here.

Questions

Asked & answered.

How much does new siding cost in Houston?
Vinyl: $4–$8/sqft installed. James Hardie: $9–$14/sqft. Engineered wood: $7–$11/sqft. A typical 2,000sqft Houston home runs $14,000–$32,000 for full replacement. Free written estimate with no obligation.
How long does siding installation take?
Vinyl: 5–10 days for a typical home. James Hardie: 7–14 days (heavier, more careful installation). We work full days, clean the site daily, and finish on the date promised.
Can siding be installed over existing siding?
Sometimes — depends on substrate condition. We always inspect for water damage, rot, and structural issues before quoting overlay vs tear-off. Tear-off is more expensive but it's the only way to inspect what's behind.
Will my insurance cover storm-damaged siding?
Usually yes, if damage is from a covered peril (hail, wind, falling debris). We meet your adjuster on-site, document the damage, and write the scope. More on insurance claims →
What's the difference between James Hardie and vinyl?
James Hardie is fiber cement — heavier, more durable, fire-resistant, holds paint longer. Vinyl is plastic — lighter, cheaper, easier to repair, but can warp in extreme heat. Both work in Houston. Hardie is the upgrade if you're staying long-term.
